The study evaluates the tribological behavior of DIN 16MnCr5 steel subjected to six thermochemical treatments and three load conditions. Through ball-on-flat wear tests and ANOVA analysis using the Response Surface Methodology (RSM), the response variables were determined. Boriding and manganese phosphating exhibited the best performance, significantly reducing friction and wear, and greatly enhancing the surface resistance of the steel under severe operating conditions.en_US
