This research study evaluated the influence of quenching and tempering heat treatments on the impact resistance of AISI 1020, 1045, and 4140 steels through Charpy tests and numerical simulations (FEA). The physical, mechanical, and microstructural properties of the samples were also characterized, identifying optimal temperature and cooling medium parameters. The results exposed that the combined quenching and tempering treatment in AISI 1045 steel enhances toughness by achieving a balance between hardness and ductility, improving its performance in demanding industrial applications requiring high impact resistance.en_US
